Introduction and Nomenclature of Dental Anatomy 1. Dr ABHISHEK SOLANKI Dr PARVIND GUMBER Guided By 2. Contents Objectives Introduction Dentition Tooth numbering systems General Oral & Dental Anatomy Surfaces of teeth Line angles and point angles Depressions and Elevations on teeth Division in thirds Occlusal Curvatures Axial Position Crown Surface Form Contact .   Numbering of teeth continues along the upper teeth toward the front and across to the last molar tooth back on the top left side (number 16). The tooth numbering continues by assigning teeth numbers descending to the lower left third molar (number 17) and follows the lower (mandibular) jaw up to the tooth farthest back on the bottom right side.

Usually, there are 20 primary ("baby") teeth and 32 permanent teeth, the last four being third molars or " wisdom teeth ", each of which may or may not grow in. Among primary teeth, 10 usually are found in the maxilla (upper jaw) and the other 10 in the mandible (lower jaw). Our anatomical chart range also includes several anatomically correct charts of the conditions relating to the eyes, ears and teeth. Each of the charts show the structure of the eyes, ears or teeth, but also how the disorder affects those parts of the human body.

In order to understand tooth morphology, it is important to understand both the nomenclature and the associated anatomy. To begin, the human jaw consists of two parts: the maxillary, referring to the upper jaw, and the mandibular, referring to the lower jaw (see Figure 1) [].The maxillary is divided into two quadrants called the upper left quadrant and the upper right quadrant.
